The most significant recent flood that happened at the Danube level was in the summer of  2010 when the affected surface was of 35  square kilometers.

As far as the temperatures registered in the summer are concerned, taking into consideration the fact that in Dăbuleni area, called the Sahara of Oltenia, the registered temperatures frequently pass over 50 degrees or more" the drought  represents a constantly found phenomenon.

The drought from the summer of  2000 (coming back in 2014), considered the most powerful from the last 100 years from our country affected the agricultural production of the inhabitants, 2,6 mil hectares and it has produced damages evaluated at 6500 milliards lei.

According to the EVZ.RO from the date of 14.06.2013 “More than a half of the melon crops from here (Dăbuleni) have been compromised because of the bad weather. However, the inhabitants are content because at least a part of the cultures are in a good condition, even if the hailstone will delay the apparition on the market of the Romanian melons. The people from here are not excepting to receive compensations for the damages suffered by them. "You invest in two, three  hectares the sum of five hundreds of  millions and then a weather like this takes  half of them or more than that. What have you done? You have big debts", said a person cultivating melons.”
