Secondary School "Lyuben Karavelov” is general secondary school (grades І - ХІІ) mainly supported by state through Municipality budget.

School "Lyuben Karavelov" was created in 1910. The old school building was built when Dimitar Balev was mayor of Vidin with funds from the state. From its opening until now the school has never been closed and its name has not been changed.

Today the school "Lyuben Karavelov" has an impressive building situated on area sized 4 acres with 6 buildings, sunny and spacious classrooms and offices, 2 gyms, conference/ceremonial hall, bakeries, bookstore, medical and dental offices.

 The school has specialized labs of biology, physics, history, geography and economics, labor and equipment, gyms and playgrounds.

The school has two museums:

- Natural - opened by Petar Beron (a biologist at the Institute of Zoology within Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, PhD) in 2002.

- Museum of Education - opened in 2003.
