Summary of the project

Peace and respect for human rights are fundamental values of the European Union and are essential for the development of the individual and for ensuring social cohesion and public well-being.
However, peace is much more than the absence of war. Democracy, social justice, respect for individual freedoms and rights, individual and cultural dignity, economic and environmental security are all factors and prerequisites for lasting peace and the well-being of our European communities.
The conflict in Ukraine has far-reaching implications as it has brought worldviews to a head for the first time since World War II and the Cold War.
In this context, and with the upcoming European elections in 2024, it is vitally important that Europe's young citizens are aware of the wider implications of current events, as well as how the political choices we make today will shape the decades to come .
The main objective of the project is to promote empowerment, participation, active citizenship and social cohesion, with a focus on disadvantaged youth, as it places great emphasis on the acquisition of the positive, life-affirming values that a democratic culture embraces, such as peace, respect for rights of man, tolerance, active non-violence, cooperation and social responsibility.
The main activities that the project envisages to help young people better understand the core values on which the EU is built and their importance for our societies are:
1. International conferences in all participating countries, each focusing on a different topic.
2. VR trainings, conferences and simulations of the functioning of EU institutions.
3. Stories of Europe YouTube channel: interviews with refugees from war-torn countries and dictatorships.
4. Local campaigns to motivate young people to vote in the upcoming European elections.

The project aims to reach 20,000 young people in 8 European countries.
